Google Scholar

Google Scholar is Google’s attempt to provide a search mechanism for scholarly information on the Web. In most cases, this tool does not provide fulltext (complete) articles.

If you find items that you’d like to have you may search the MVCC library to see if we own them or if we provide access to them online. If we do not own them or provide access, you may order these items through our library via Interlibrary loan.

  • Google Scholar: search google’s online listing.
  • MVCC’s Catalog: Search our Public Access Catalog by title to see if we own the item you find.
  • Order Item: If our library does not have the item, you may order items through Interlibrary loan.
  • Research Databases: Don’t forget that MVCC students, faculty and staff can search the library’s online databases for published sources.

Election 2004 Results: “Using County-by-County election return data … we produced the following graphic [map] depicting the results. Of course, blue is for the democrats, red is for the republicans, and green is for all other. Each county’s color is a mix of these three color components in proportion to the results for that county.” Thus, this map shows returns for the 2004 presidential election in shades of purple. New in the Library: “Ali” starring Will Smith

Ali: This 2002 film starring Will Smith recieved acclaim from many critics. Here is the description from the item: “Dramatic biography of boxing great Muhammad Ali, which focuses on the ten-year period of 1964-1974. In that time, the brash, motor-mouthed athlete quickly dominates his sport, meets and marries his first wife, converts to Islam (changing his name from Cassius Clay), and defies the United States government by refusing to submit to military conscription for duty in Vietnam. His world heavyweight champion title thus stripped from him entirely for political reasons, the champ sets about to win back his crown, culminating in a legendary unification bout against George Foreman in Zaire, dubbed the ‘Rumble in the Jungle.’”

You can search or browse by title, people, characters, plot, genre, and more. Information on people includes a brief biography, a complete filmography, and photographs. Movie information includes plot, cast, crew, trivia, filming locations, and links to reviews and show times. Information in the database is obtained from a variety of sources.
